The demon Hiranyaksha hid the Earth in the underworld. To rescue the Earth, Vishnu took the form of a boar. He descended into the underworld, fought Hiranyaksha, and lifted the Earth out with his tusks.

The ninth avatar of Vishnu, Buddha, appeared at the beginning of the Kali Yuga. He founded Buddhism, providing a path to liberation from suffering. Buddha taught the Four Noble Truths and emphasized non-violence.
The tenth and final avatar of Vishnu, Kalki, is prophesied to appear at the end of the Kali Yuga. He will restore righteousness and destroy evil. As a mighty warrior, Kalki's arrival will mark the end of the dark age and the beginning of a new era of virtue.
