In the Hindu Dharm, Narasimha Jayanti is one of the most significant festivals. The day marks the celebration of the manifestation of Lord Vishnu's Narasimha avatar. Lord Narasimha is the 4th and most fierce (Raudra) incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Every year, Narasimha Jayanti falls on the Chaturdashi tithi of the Shukla Paksha of the Vaishakh month. Narasimha Jayanti is celebrated to honour the occasion when Lord Vishnu intervened to protect his devotee, Prahlad. Prahlad was the son of the demon king Hiranyakashipu, as he was the beloved devotee of Lord Vishnu. Hiranyakashipu adapted various deceitful tactics to discourage his son from worshipping Lord Vishnu, but Prahlad remained devoted to Lord Vishnu. Seeing the devotion of his Prahalad to Lord Vishnu, Hiranyakashipu made every possible attempt to kill Prahlad, but he failed on every single attempt. Hiranyakashipu had received a boon from Lord Brahma that he an niether be killed nor during the day nor at night, neither by a human nor by an animal, neither by a weapon nor by an armament, and neither on the earth nor in the sky; consequently, no one had been able to kill him. Then Lord Vishnu took the Narasimha avatar and killed Hiranyakashipu during the Sandhya-kaal to protect his devotee, Prahlad. This act shows that if someone is devoted to the Lord with true faith and sincerity, the Lord will always be there to protect them.
