While observing this fast, they perform worship with proper rituals, wearing green attire and bangles, applying mehndi, singing traditional Teej songs, and receiving the Sindhara (festive gifts) from one's maternal home.

This year, Hariyali Teej will be observed on 15th August 2026. According to the Panchang, Hariyali Teej falls on the Tritiya tithi of the Shukla Paksha of the Sawan month. The Tritiya Tithi will begin at 6:46 PM on August 14 and end at 5:28 PM on August 15.

Religious Significance of Hariyali Teej

The auspicious festival of Hariyali Teej is associated with marital bliss and good fortune. Worshipping Goddess Gauri on this day has special significance. It is believed that observing the fast and performing rituals with devotion brings happiness, peace, love, and prosperity to married life. The first Teej after marriage holds special importance for newlywed women, and many families follow the custom of inviting their daughters back to their home for the occasion.

Fasting Rituals

• One should wake up early in the morning, take a bath, and wear clean clothes.
• Clean the temple and the place of worship. 
• Install idols of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati (or Goddess Gauri) and take a sankalp to observe this fast.
• Begin the worship by invoking Lord Ganesha. 
• After this, offer water, Belpatra, and flowers to Lord Shiva. 
• Offer shringar items, fruits, and sweets as bhog to Goddess Gauri. 
• In the end, read or listen to the Teej story, perform the Aarti, and ask for forgiveness for your mistakes.
