Maa Bhadrakali temple in Sahapau town of Sadabad area of Hathras in Uttar Pradesh is considered to be a witness to miracles. According to the people, the history of the temple is also found in the Mahabharata. Mother Bhadrakali has been mentioned twice in Shrimad Bhagwat. Jalesar City, about 18 km from Sahpau town, is said to be the capital of Jarasandha during the Mahabharata period. Maa Bhadrakali temple remains a major center of faith of the people. It is believed that in the town of Sahpau between Mathura and Jalesar, Lord Krishna built this temple and worshiped him by revealing Yogmaya. However, later the temple of this ancient mother Bhadrakali became the wrath of Aurangzeb during the Mughal period. Aurangzeb broke the idols of this temple and took them with him and threw them on the way. Which later came out in the form of stone blocks while excavating from place to place, the villagers of the village where the stone of the mother's temple came out, got the temple built by keeping that stone at one place.
A fair is held in both the Navratri of the year
In the vicinity of the ancient Maa Bhadrakali temple, a fair is held in both Navratri. There is a crowd of people performing Bhandara . Not only Hathras but people from many areas of Uttar Pradesh come to see the devotees of the mother and see the fair.
Due to the curse of the devotee, the whole procession turned into stone!
There is also a legend that the girl of a Pandit, who was a devotee of Matarani. She had come to the temple to worship, but some people involved in the procession made a sarcasm, after which the whole procession was turned into stones due to her curse. The remains of that procession are still present in the temple as a testimony. Some people tell that the name of the town of Sahpau during the Mahabharata was named after the name of Sahadeva among the five Pandavas. This temple of Maa Bhadrakali is said to be about 500 years old.
