This fast is observed on the Ashtami of Krishna Paksha of Kartik month. Ahoi Mata, Lord Shankar and Parvati are worshiped on this day. This fast is kept for the attainment of children and for the happiness and peace of the children. The long, healthy and successful life of the child are wished through the circle.
According to Hindu religion, Goddess Parvati is worshiped as Hui on this day. This year this fast will be observed on October 28. The auspicious time of worship on Ahoi Ashtami is from 05.39 pm to 06.56 pm.
 In this fast, all the mothers observe a Nirjala fast for the safety of their children. The Sahi maata is worshiped in this fast. Mothers also wear silver garlands on Ashtami to which two silver beads are added every year. Many rules are also followed in Ahoi Ashtami fast and the woman who observes the fast cannot even cut vegetables with a knife.

Method of worship
Wherever there is a place of worship in the house, place the picture of Ahoi Mata. Take a plate and take roli, rice and milk in the bowl. After that start the process of worship. All mothers start reading Ahoi Ashtami Katha by taking water in an urn. Offer sweets to Ahoi Mata, after that offer prayers to the stars at night and pray for the long and successful life of the children. After worshiping, the mothers breaks the fast and give gifts or donations to the older women in the group.

 Ahoi Ashtami fast is observed 3 days after Karva Chauth fast. The fast of Karva Chauth is kept for the long life of the husband, similarly the fast of Ashtami is kept for the longevity and a happy life of the child. On this day, all women keep a Nirjala fast for the happiness, peace and prosperity of their children. Being happy, Ahoi Mata protects their children like hers and blesses the child with happiness. It is widely recognized in Hinduism.
