The holy festival of Radha falls on the Ashtami tithi of the Shukla Paksha of Bhadrapada month. This festival falls exactly 15 days after Krishna Janmashtami, and is celebrated with great devotion in Vrindavan, Barsana and the entire country. The Puranas states that, on this auspicious day, Shri Radha Rani had appeared in the house of Bhanubhanu ji in Barsana. It is said that without the grace of Radha ji, it is impossible to get the blessings of Lord Shri Krishna. Devotees who observe a fast of Radha Ashtami and worship Radha-Krishna together, it helps remove all the sorrows and poverty from their life. When is Radha Ashtami 2026? 

According to the Panchang, the Ashtami Tithi of Bhadrapada Shukla Paksha will begin on 18 September at 01:02 PM, and will end on 19 September at 03:28 PM. As per the Udayatithi, the festival of Radha Ashtami will be celebrated on 19 September.

Radha Ashtami Puja Rituals 

• On this day, wake up early in the morning and take bath and wear yellow clothes.
• Spread a red or yellow cloth on a stool in the home temple.
• Install the idol of Radha and Krishna on it.
• Bathe Radha Rani and Kanha ji with Gangajal and Panchamrit in a brass or copper vessel.
• After this dress them in beautiful clothes.
• Offer Solah Shringar items to Radha ji.
• Offer colocasia vegetable (arbi ki sbzi), curd, malpua and mawa sweets to Radha Rani.
• Include basil leaves in the offering.
• Light incense sticks and diya and chant the name “Om Hreem Radhikaayi Namah” or “Shri Radhe”.
• Conclude the puja with aarti of Radha-Krishna.

Radha Ashtami Remedies

• Never worship Radha ji alone. It is believed that the puja is completed only by worshiping Lord Shri Krishna along with Radha Rani.
• Offer Tulsi leaves at the feet of Lord Krishna and rose flowers at the feet of Radha ji.
• After the puja, gift wedding items to a married woman, as this brings good fortune in one's life.
